TO: All YCBA Affiliated Clubs

PROPOSED NEW EBU MEMBERSHIP STRATEGY

Unless the trend of declining EBU membership is halted, the framework of bridge in England will no longer be able to survive as we know it.

The YCBA is a major pillar of the EBU and at the Shareholders Annual General Meeting on October 3rd 2007 in London, counties will be asked
to give the EBU Board of Directors the go-ahead to stop individual EBU subscriptions and give blanket EBU membership to all affiliated club
members and a Pay-2-Play system of collection of revenue per session.

The YCBA Management Committee has recommended the four nominated shareholders to support the new initiatives in principle at this stage.

Please contact one of the YCBA Shareholders if you have any comments that the EBU need to be made aware of at the AGM.

Shareholders:Graham Jepson01142 686258
Janet Latham01423 879438
Philip Mason01653 693553
Ian Rodger01132 842873

Affiliated clubs will retain their own autonomy and character and will be given whatever EBU support there is. All club players will be on an
even playing field and can give to local area bridge whatever they wish and can do to increase the popularity of the game in an era of increasing
social change. The new initiative will help the grass roots of English bridge far more than in the past.

The Pay-2-Play session fee cannot yet be determined (20 – 30p?). Any extra revenue this may, or may not, create will not be used on extra
administration but on initiatives eg. youth bridge or club help etc. to enable the EBU to move forward.

The wholehearted support of all YCBA clubs will add to the county support to strengthen bridge administration in this country.
The YCBA will continue to keep you informed if changes do go ahead in the next few years, via the website www.ycba.freeserve.co.uk
