Richard Winter and Graham Jepson finished second in the
Premier Grand Master's Pairs.
Ian and Julie Grant of Sheffield won the
Regional Masters Pairs
Sarah Teshome won the Championship Pairs at
Blackpool with Ollie Burgess.
Special Meeting on Pay2Play
There is to be a meeting of all YCBA clubs (max 2 representatives per club) on MONDAY 12th MAY at Wetherby Bridge Club
11a.m. start (12.30 complimentary sandwich lunch). The meeting's opinions and decisions will inform the four YCBA shareholders
and hence influence the EBU shareholders' meeting on 4th June when a final decision needs to be made on Pay2play.
Please ensure your club will be represented.
EBU Awareness Day - York
The EBU (with the English Chess Federation) is holding an awareness day on 13 April at the York Railway Museum.
At the museum we will be holding an exhibition of bridge from 10.30am to 4pm and some of the highlights include...
* the chance to learn bridge
* the opportunity to play the game
* meet the experts
* meet local bridge clubs, especially York Bridge Club
* meet the Chairman of the English Bridge Union
* watch exhibition matches, with some of the best young England players, who will be competing later this year in Beijing.
Junior Camrose (Home Internationals)
Congratulations to Fiona Brown and Steve Raine, two Yorkshire players who were members of the winning

Mind Sports Online Petition
An online petition has been set up, asking the government to give equal status to mind sports and physical sports.

National Swiss Teams
Tony McNiff's team (Bill Townsend, with Willie Crook and Rob Sharpe, both of Notts) came 5th with 167 VPs
The best all-yorkshire performance was by Roy Garthwaite, Heather Hobson, Stan Collins & Agnes Blewitt,
who came 27th= with 137 VPs. A total of 72 teams competed.
New Laws
The WBF has promulgated a new edition of the Laws of Duplicate Contract Bridge.
From the point of view of club players, not much has changed: the revoke law is simpler, and dummy's rights
to prevent irregularities by declarer are more specific. A general change is from "penalty" to "restitution".
National Bridge Organisations will decide when to adopt them during 2008. As yet there are no printed copies
available, but clicking on the heading above will take you to the ECATS website, where they may be viewed online.
Northern Bridge League
At the end of the season Yorkshire were 2nd in Divisions 1 & 2 and Yorkshire SE won in Division 3,
while the Juniors won in the u25 division
